Bailouts

My opponent for the Republican nomination for Oklahoma Governor, US Representative Mary Fallin, claims to be a fiscally responsible Republican.   Nothing could be further from the truth. She has been a friend of big government throughout her nearly 20 year career as a politician.

My name is Randy Brogdon. I first ran for public office after a 30 year career as a small businessman. In my seven years in the Oklahoma Senate I have fought for strict spending limits, lower taxes and a less intrusive government. I believe in the free-market and limited, constitutional government and have fought big government at every turn.

She voted for the $800 billion bailout, which has become a trillion dollar bailout. Since then she has accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions from the finance and insurance industries she voted to subsidize.

Before the famous BAILOUT vote, Mary Fallin supported every stimulus package presented to her.  In Fedruary 2008, Fallin voted with big government for a $168 BILLION stimulus package that made expensive mortgages available through the government. This flawed policy led Congresswoman  Fallin to vote in favor of the $1 trillion Bailout.

She followed those fiscally irresponsible votes with an additional $192 billion anti-recession stimulus vote.  That is almost a TRILLION and a half dollars and counting, in new federal spending, in just a year and a half.

Although she repeatedly insists to voters that she voted against Obama’s stimulus package, she fails to mention that she requested millions of dollars in earmarks from the proceeds.

Making matters worse, she supports using Federal stimulus money to fill our state budget holes.  She will artificially inflate state spending and bargain Oklahoma’s future. The strings attached to that money gives the federal government unconstitutional control over our budget until 2012. 

We must stop irresponsible, out-of-touch, Washington politicians from continuing to bankrupt our country.  But the Mary Fallin’s of the world rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars from banking and insurance executives. Corporate lobbyists invest a few million in a few Mary Fallins and get trillions in return, of course they want her to win.
